WE DID IT!
The #GenigmaChallenge, the first participatory experiment to analyse the human genome through a smartphone, concludes today 16 June 2022.
In 20 weeks, 600,287 solutions have been collected and 181 Eureka! regions have been identified. Eureka! regions are areas of the genome where the solution proposed by players is higher than the reference score (calculated from the genome of a non-cancer cell). Finding these regions is equivalent to identifying regions affected by cancer-related chromosomal rearrangements.
From now on, it will be possible to play with genome fragments of the identified Eureka! regions and, in this way, help to test whether it is possible to advance the analysis of the arrangement of these fragments at a higher level of resolution.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR COLLABORATION!
