WE DID IT!
The #GenigmaChallenge, the first participatory experiment to analyse the human genome through a smartphone, concludes today 16 June 2022.
In 20 weeks, 600,287 solutions have been collected and 181 Eureka! regions have been identified. Eureka! regions are areas of the genome where the solution proposed by players is higher than the reference score (calculated from the genome of a non-cancer cell). Finding these regions is equivalent to identifying regions affected by cancer-related chromosomal rearrangements.
Between July and September 2022 players were able to play with genome fragments from the identified Eureka! zones and, in this way, help test whether it is possible to advance the analysis of the ordering of these fragments to a higher level of resolution.
On 3 October 2022 the app will be closed momentarily to allow the scientific team to focus on the analysis of the data collected.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR COLLABORATION!
